Over such a short distance (11.5k) Tergat seems to be the favorite, but I just hope KK shakes off his disappointing Sapporo performance and for God's sake does not lose to El Mouaziz!

a fiver says he doesn't run!
Say what you want about Khannouchi, but when hes ready he puts it ALL on the line and takes on anyone in the world at almost any distance.
And because of that there are races he bombs in and others where he destroys the field, things other top American runners should be doing..you NEED to go out there and compete agianst the best.
Why is it that the top US runners arent seen on the roads occasionally racing the Kenyans, yet show up in droves for a US championship road race? Sure its to pick up some money, but its not going to lead to improvements because they dont understand how much work needs to be done to get to the next level.
Meb won at Bix by one of the largest margins and his time was still under the top 30 top times for the course. Did he really deserve a car for that? What does this tell other US runners?
K
KK takes Tergat. Hands down
Does anybody know where we can get the results? It's almost 1 p.m. here in Chicago, I figure they have probably run the race already.
The race website is
http://www.girodicastelbuono.it/indexing.htm
But I don't know when will they have the results. In fact, it doesn't even say what time the race is...
Well, if you can read Italian, here's a story on the race:
http://sport.tiscali.it/running/200107/27/maratona.html
No mention of Tergat or KK in the story -- as far as I can tell.
That article is from 2001.
Mi dispiace. Non parlo italiano molto buene.
Good catch on the date. I saw the 7/27 on the headline and assumed it was because it happened to be Saturday there. My bad. Guess that's what happens when you can't read Italian!
