wow, thats a bit time run for a soph...keep an eye on him, he could break some national records.
he plays football (american) in the fall.
its basically a 1:48 and there's no guarantee he's gonna replicate the performance, but an impressive result nonetheless
It's still a 1:47 and there is never a guarantee that anyone is going to replicate a performance. But he has run 1:51 in the open and won the nys title in the 1000

So this year there is basically one guy running 1:47, and two at 1:48, one a soph. Andrews is going to have some company in the coming years after all.

Nice time. But how old is he? Is he a legitimate sophomore or an 18 yr old soph?
He is 16 years old.
Check out the DMR also.

He runs the opening 1200 leg and just about gives it to one of the Rosas. Something like 3:00-01! Kid's a beast.

No, not really. It was 1:47.99 with a running start. That's worth a 1:48-mid performance at best. Be honest about it, he's a legitimate 1:48 guy. That's incredible as it is, no need to make it out to be something it's not.
Unless it is the lead off leg, a 1:47.99 relay split is about equal to a 1:49.5 out the blocks. A scratcj 800 takes more effort becasue if you are running on the inside you end chopping stride and/or getting banged around, if you are running on the outside you run a longer distance and running from the front or the back impacts your race as well, while a relay leg is almost like a time trial. Although, even a 1:49.5 is a heck of a time for a 16 teen year old.
This kid also has a lot of heart; I think he was the one who pushed Rosa to that 2:59 1200 split on the DMR. Rosa's 1200 split is kind of going under the radar, but this is pretty close to the opening legs on the COA DMR, which is ironic becasue up to May of this year, the Rosa's not known as XC and long distance runners.
1.51 difference between flying and standing starts in an 800 relay? Don't you think that's just a bit much? And also, few start from the blocks in the 800, except those with a second-and-a-half gap like the one you're talking about. Makes me wonder how many 800s or relays you've run or watched.

No one made it more than it was except for you. It was said to be a 1:47 800 split, it was. You can't argue that.
No, it was a 1:48 relay split, not 1:47
interesting that some questioned his age 2 years ago and others wondered if he'd improve over time. Penn State is getting another mid distance sensation who will only get better with year long commitment.
He did just break the national record at 1000m, but got disqualified.
