Schedule is here. He is also racing a road race in Italy a few weeks later.

I notice that he is running the philly half 3 weeks before Chicago. Isn't that too close between a half and full.
Depends on how hard he runs Philly. Might just be a tune up workout. Or he might be getting a nice appearance fee.

YYYYYYEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
13:07
13:11.67
I assume he's getting a great appearance fee for that Philly race since he won it last year. It's also nice and flat, so there was a lot of speculation for a new half AR, but that didn't happen. I'm curious to see what he has for this year.
13:42.
unfortunately i think youre closer than the other more hopeful people above. i say 13:30s.
Maybe he could run a PR by the end of track season if he runs several 1500s and 5000s, but I don't see him just popping a 13:10 first time out.
Name 3 people who could make running a commercial sport after HS/College rather than a hobby. Didn't Golf do that about 70 years ago.
Are there 3 people .... Ferris Bueller?
13:53
I imagine that he's not taking it too seriously. Probably something to do while following the wife around.
That said Ryan is very talented and in a good field I think he will be competative and stubborn enough to run in 13:20's.

Agreed. I say 13:26
He ran 13:16 five years ago at USATF after winning the NCAA 5K in 13:22.
On the one hand he's been training for marathons and half marathons for years and "doesn't have the speed," but on the other hand he's that much fitter from years of marathon training (look what it did for Ritz).
I'm glad that he's going to run a Euro track race this year, but if he wants to run a good one, he needs some tune up races. you can't just come out and run a good five k off years of marathon training, at this level, with his type of training. last year, ritz ran U.S. nationals at 10k, maybe a tune up before that, a five k at altitude, the 10k at world's, and then his five k record.
ok, maybe 13:07 was a little out of hand.
but 13:15-13:25 is realistic in my mind.
there is a youtube video saying ryan split a sub 14 on the roads during boston training last year. the guy has decent miler speed.
Hopefully he can pull a ritz and bust a huge one after all his marathon training.

I loved it when ritz busted a huge one.
