UO is a shit area for T&F. Too much rain. Too much pollen. Too many Caucasoid Aboriginal meth addicts ruining training runs. Rupp waited and waited then flew down to Frisco twice to do the 5K and 10K AR attempt. OTC runs more times at Oxy, Mt Sac, Stanford, or Cal than at UO.

So in running heats they advance by placement and in throwing flights they advance by combine performance and they performed under different conditions?

I also thought it was strange that the long jump was going on during the 4X4.

The long jump is usually done earlier in the day and on an earlier day in multi-day competition.

So the Oregon athletes that have the advantage of competing under Oregon weather now lost because of Oregon weather and their inability to compete in it at all. Look, when the number one seed cannot even get into the final group so that they get the last three attempts with all of the other top throwers then those 'top' athletes have failed.

One thing you do not seem to understand is that there is a difference between the vertical jumps and the throws.

Deal with it. No one is ever going to have identical conditions from flight to flight. You deal with what you are given. It didn't rain that long and you can't delay it until everything is dry again, that's ridiculous. There is a schedule to follow. Tough luck flight 2.

Weather plot from that day, notice the bottom graph, yes it poured but only for about half an hour. You don't get all your throws in the jav done in half an hour for a flight. How long should they delay after the rain? They can't.

Again, deal with it.

Easy for a well known Oregon hater to say and really knowing that it's really hard to listen to anything you say that involves Oregon because all sense will be ignored. But what of the other men in that flight? 1 man out of the top flight says it all. There is a point in which you delay the meet. They certainly did in Arkansas last year.

It's always best to give the best men a fair shot to make it into finals, it's not like distance races where they can qualify by place. The distance is everything.

To the fella who said that Eugene is a bad place due to weather, keep in mind PRE Classic is ususally this time of year and usually awesome.

Also, Arkansas had tornadoes and rain last year, Oklahoma has flooding now. Iowa has had nuts weather as well.

Just so you know, section 2 was not the "top section". They were random draw. Seeds 1,3,4,6 were in flight 1 while seeds 2,5,7,8,9 were in flight 2.

And I am confused, results have that 3 out of heat two advanced. They were seeds 2, 9 and 10. So seeds 8 and 9, the Oregon guys, are the only two out of the second heat seeded in the top 9 to not make it.

Alright, after doing a lot of research, did you just make this all up? Coming in, their javelin throwers were seeded for 3 points. 0.5 in/hr is not monsoon caliber rain. There were only two flights of javelin with 3 in the second flight advancing and as I pointed out they were close to being expected to.

I fully admit I dislike Oregon. I will give them props when they run well, Wheating you can well this weekend, Acosta and Centro you ran well this weekend. But the people like the OP who just spout off crap are what pisses me off about Oregon.

Dude...where you there? I was, and it rained off and on all week! They would STILL be competing if they had stopped for every rain shower. And I guess the Hayward Field homefield advantage wasn't unfair? Come on...A&M won fair and square. And trust me...I'm a Longhorn for the past 52 years and HATE the Aggies. But their T&F teams (M/W) were the best out there.

I was there, a 25mph wind blowing straight at the Javelin throwers happened just as the flight Oregon was in began to throw. Windy/Rainy mess. Should have been delayed.

Oregon hater, you should quit making up crap. Oregon was seeded for 13 pts. Hostetler was top seed for 10, and their other guy was 6 seeded for 3 pts. The guy was right that it was unfair. Why did the high jump and Pole Vault stop competition and the Javelin continued?

I am not saying that A&M didn't get screwed a few times too, I'm just saying that Oregon had a case for losing out because of the Javelin fiasco. Eugene Register-Guard posted that only one advanced from flight 2.

Going off of regional results Hostetler was not top seed, that's what I'm going off of for seeds. Hostetler threw the top performance list seed on April 4th, that is not indicative of being ready on June 10th.

Also, just going off of the original performance list the second Oregon guy was seeded 9th so you are not even correct on the number of points they had coming.

High jump and pole vault stopped but hammer and jav kept going. As someone said, jumps and throws are different. If someone could clarify how that would be great.

I will grant you part of your argument because it all depends on who's Seeding you were following. I believe that the one used by most had Hostetler seeded #1 and the other Oregon guy at #6.

I can't speak to the hammer because I was not watching it, but anyone knows how dangerous a javelin runway can be when it is slick. The rain was nearly non stop during the second flight's javelin competition, but that really doesn't matter because it is now history that the head official let the event continue.

I think we all know that track and field meets like this have "ups and downs" and lots of judgement calls. Without all these things, the winner for the men could have been Florida, A&M or Oregon. A&M came out with the highest number of points in the end. Holloway (Florida) needs to grow up and quit bitching. Sure, one might say he got screwed over, one might as easily say that Oregon got screwed over...are you hearing any bitching from Lananna?
