Why isn't Rupp in the Rome 5000 today???

It's weird, we haven't heard a single word about Rupp since the 10,000 that didn't work out how he hoped, other than the workout Lagat mentioned in his Twitter.

I wonder what's up?

Right? He's never been this underground. Unless he's injured I don't know why he'd sit back and watch the's fast races with AR's going down. These non-international championship summers only come around every 4 years, and this being his first out of college I'd suspect he's hungry for some fast races.

Rupp enjoys running, he doesn't enjoy the limelight or the press -- specifically because the internet -- with boards like this -- have added a cesspool aspect to it.

He's been ripped on since he was a child, a CHILD. Things that never happened BEFORE the internet.

If he is laying low, he deserves the privacy to train in peace, enjoy his running/training, and race when he pleases.

Give the young man a break, and just wait for it...he'll be racing again.

He's helping to get AW back into shape, which is a full-time job.

Fair enough and trust me I'm a big fan. I've thought was capable of some great times, long overdue times, for the past couple years.

I just hope he can stay healthy up till the races he's decided on racing. Sometimes overtraining causes injury because you tend to keep mileage and intesity up for so long.

I do wish, for the sake of the sport that he'd be a little more interactive with the fans. He doesn't have to, but he could do a lot of good for inspiring young runners if he were to give more interviews and insight like he has done in the past. I really like what Solinsky and Ritz and Goucher do with the blogs and interviews.

RD for the Portland Track Festival said he might be running there tomorrow night. I can't quote him directly but it was along the lines of Galen might show up.

There is a 5000 at the PTF with Cheseret running so it is possible.

I am, I just have a sense of humor too. I hate pretty much all the bashing that goes on around here, but I do find the "not Rupp certified" stuff humorous and I wouldn't be surprised if he laughs at that stuff.I also think it's one of the Rupp critizisms that can actually be warranted.Rembember, we can be fans but not agree with everything without thinking or reason.Thus far in 2010 Europe has not been Rupp certified. I can't wait until it is.....................................

He's getting in a solid doping cycle while these fools are racing.

He'll be coming off soon for Pre, then racing frequently after that.

I'd be shocked, that is usually a 13:30-13:55 type race. Rupp can run on the front of that back to back for 10K.

Maybe he's there to pace Cheseret to a 5K qualifier for USA's as part of a workout, but that seems like a waste to me and I'd bet hed rather be down watching his buddies race in Eugene and do a workout there if he were in Oregon.

True, but if he'd followed the pattern of previous seasons, he'd be running some underdistance races to work on his speed.

They have until 6/18 to enter officially. Plenty of people that would be expected, such as Jeremy Wariner, Bernard Lagat, and Allyson Felix, have not entered yet.

Start lists for Preclassic won't be announced for some time. We know that Solinsky is running Preclassic, so he won't be at Drake.

BTW, I'm very interested to see if Robby Andrews enters the USATF Nationals in the 800. Charles Jock is entered (and has updated his time), as have Rutt and Gagnon.

If Andrews does enter, he would be the SECOND FASTEST QUALIFIER, after Symmonds.

Me too, like to see Wheating there too in either the 800 or 1500. My bet is Vig ends his season on a good note though rather than risk ending on a flat note which is highly likely if he goes onto USA's. Who knows.

Might be too close to NCAAs for those running in prelims and finals. Easier for Andrews to recover with only 2 races, a 2 week break from regionals, and another 2 week break to USATF.

What I'd really like to see, though, is for Robby to go to Lausanne.

I was thinking the same thing about Rupp, but then I noticed how many Daimond League Races there are this year. These are the remaining meets.

Figure he'll be at Pre, and USATFs, and then there are still 8 more potential big races to run. Even if he only does half, that would still put him at 7 big races in outdoors (a 10k, Pre, USATFs, and the hypothetical 4 of the last 8 Diamond League races).

7 races is a fair number... IF he actually get's to Europe starting in July.

He planned to run that 10k as the focus of his first track season, then take a break before Europe (and maybe USAs?).
