This is going to be CRAZY. I don't know what I think about it all because I've actually loved my team (Texas) being part of the BIG 12.
ESPN is saying the PAC 16 deal is without question going to happen. Crazy ass shit mi amigos.
My father is on the Athletic Council at a Big 10 school. At the most recent meeting the president of the university said that the ultimate goal was to have the Pac 10, Big 10, ACC, and SEC expand to 16 each and then withdraw from the NCAA to form their own league.
Need solid proof, please provide
If the big 12 dissolves, what about Kansas joining the Big East? They could drop DePaul and if needed. It would make the Beast a little more respectable in football and would add another top 10 basketball team. It will be fun to see it all shake out.

For all sports or just football?

basketball and football. nothing else matters. we will probably get rid of a lot more of the non revenue sports on the male side. costs are to high
All sports, but teams like Georgetown, Villanova, Marquette might be accommodated somehow because of their basketball strength and but lack of football. one way for kansas to survive this is to give up on football and join some of these teams in a super basketball conference that is impossible to ignore because of how much money the current NCAA basketball tournament generates. bill self has already said that recruits aren't talking to him because of the uncertainty around the program right now.
If this comes to pass it will likely kill a lot of the olympic sports because lets be honest are people going to travel from washington state to texas a&m for all these league games in the minor sports?
Well thank god that's only required for conference championships in t&f and xc, so it'd be only a once-a-season thing and more or less the same as it has been for the new Pac-16 programs.
I hope it happens. The NCAA TF/CC Championships won't be funded as the Final Four/Bowl Sponsorships won't trickle down to olympic sports. Teams will be forced to stop flying all over the country chasing times if they are even allowed to survive at all.
Track will go back to the team sport atmosphere and spectatorship will soar.
It will save track and field as the death at it's current pace isn't too far off.
People seemed pretty excited at the NCAA Championships today? Didnt look like a sport that was on the verge of death to me? I would say that we are actually moving in the right direction. Sam Seemes and his staff have done an amazing job of promoting our sport with the USTFCCCA website and the twitters. People like you just want to bring everyone else down. If you love this sport and really want to see it thrive on the ncaa level stop being such a negative F***, all you do is give off a bad perception of track. People believe what you tell them, tell them track is awesome and thriving and the will believe that, talk about it sucking and guess what, they will believe that!!!

This is correct!

Ummm... what are you talking about? I'm from PA, and Penn State football pays for every other sport. The only reason their non revenue sports are fully funded is football. Plain and Simple. Why would a change in affiliation change anything in terms of where the money goes.
I'm glad the PAC did it. The BCS became too much of an east-coast insult from the east coast press. This year's BCS was the ultimate joke of all. Starting in 2014 The PAC should have a playoffs with the championship game on New Years day.
Nebraska will win Big 10 in mens track every year!!!
Wow! Big f-ing deal. Nebraska winning a conference meet? Who cares? They have never been anything on the national scene, and NEVER will be. Losers!!
What other choice did NE have. They've been stood up, rejected, left w/o a date to the 2011 prom. The PAC-16 didn't invite NE. The PAC-16 is a super conference with the 5 top NCAA Athletic Programs, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Cal, and Oklahoma State, plus T&F/XC juggernauts TX/A&M/UO, and Olympics juggernaut UT. It's a super dream league put together by TV powers.
I'm still in love with Sara Jane Baker. What is she doing now ? Where does she live ?
Man I started a thread on this a few weeks ago and it went no where.
This really could be the end of "non-revenue" collegiate sports.

The only thing they care about is fball. "Olympics juggernauts" ha ha a laughable term.. NOBODY cares about t&f or tennis or even basketball... this is ALL being done for football and football only.
