I'm looking for either scientific reserach or personal testimonials as to the extent to which soft surfaces prevent overuse injuries in runners.
I have wanted to do all my running on trails for a long time, but its just not practical (I barely have time to get out the door and run, let alone go driving somewhere to find trails). I have been suffereing from IT band issues for the past year and am wondering if it may be worth the extyra effort to drive somewhere for my runs? (yes when you have a wife and 2 young children, the extra time demand does make a difference).
I'm not asking what's causing my onjuries, but whether or not people have found help running on soft surfaces?
