All 3 US sub-4 1500 females from last year plus Rowbury and Flanagan, not to mention Burka and Lagat.

And you're picking a relative jogger (she is in this event) over Olympic medalists (plural) in their main event? There are FOUR sub-4 ladies plus Rowbury in this race. 3 of them have already run well faster than Defar's PR this year.

Defar doesn't have a chance. Since Pierce and Rowbury haven't run 1500 yet this year, it looks to be Burka's and Lagat's race to lose.

Wurth Thomas is in great shape at moment. Might as well put it out there and pick her for the win.

So much talent loaded into one race.

Not sure who to pick, but regardless of the outcome it's going to be one fun race to watch!

Doug while Defar is an amazing talent I doubt we will see 3:55. Her finishing speed could really set her up well though. Should be one of the best races of the day.

Great field. Hopefully Flanagan gets pulled to a fast time and a PR.

However I'd agree she can run much faster than 4:06 in the right 1500 (although I think 3:55 is way too optimistic).

No, it's that she's decided to have a real test at 1500m finally. And Burka, all three world championship finalists from America aren't exactly pushovers.

Doug was saying that Kalkidan Gezahegne and Genzebe Dibaba should run in the high school mile races, so use that as a reference point when judging the validity of his claims.

I can't remember where, but I read the same thing that you are referencing above. I thought whoever wrote it must be joking. Why would a world championship gold medalist at 1500 meters EVER be put in a high school race???

they were high school age when i said that and they might still be the right age.

Regardless of their ages, world class athletes so not belong in high school races.

i said that before gezahegne had won the 1500 indoor title.

I would not be surprised if Defar runs close to 4 flat, but if she could run 3:55, the 1500 would be her event.

Haile ran 3:31 indoors but didn't make the 1500m his event. Defar and Dibaba are the same way. Dibaba's last 1500m in her 14:11 world record was 4:06. And that was after going through 3000m in 8:38. they can run 3:56 for sure.

Defar doesn't want to go head to head with dibaba. She already beated dibaba last year.

Doug what races have you run? Did you ran london 10000 and manchester 10k? I ran Oc Half Marathon.
