Well, they are pretty close to in line all things considered.
I suspect if you looked at all the guys who have run 27:05 or faster and raced competitive 5K's, you'd find 12:56 to be pretty close to an averaged top mark for them.

Super close. SolTrain is very consistent right now. With him and Lagat both healthy, the 3000 AR is in jeopardy this summer.

What do you mean he was not training for that distance?
He's a distance runner. Pretty sure he was training for distance races.

I'd add Rupp to that list. He seems to be really preparing for summer season. Not to mention he split those two at the us indoor championships indoors at 3K.
Be interesting to see when he opens up.
