Is it possible they could lead to some neuromuscular "confusion"? Generally when running you want anogistic muscles to work in concert, one relaxing as much as possible while the other tenses. Over time your body gets better at this, this is neuromuscular coordination.
But when you're doing exercises where you're standing on one foot, you've got glutes firing at the same time as the quad and hamstring and calf and foot muscles and pretty much everything is working at the same time to keep you in one place. Is it possible this is a bad thing neuromuscularly?
