19.41
1st 50m-5.5
2nd 50m~4.36
3rd 50m~4.36
4th 50m-5.23???
So his last 50 was 5.23?

So is Gay now the 150m WR holder?
That puts him at 14.22 for the 150m mark. Usain Bolts time was 14.35.
I thought I heard he was 14:41 at 150.
Oops messed up that first 50 is supposed to be 5.52
The splits listed, even with 5.52, add up to much less than 14.41 and are under 14.35.
Maybe it's because I'm exhausted, but even if he did split 14.41 for 150, the 8.72 makes the splits confusing. That would put the first 50m at 5.69. Isn't that slow for a first 50m and then incredibly fast for the next 50?
5.69
4.19 (9.88)
4.53 (14.41)
5.00 (19.41)
19.41 - 14.41 = 5.00. Not that hard of a math problem.
5.2
4.68
4.53
5.00
Those are more realistic splits.

You're totally ignoring the 8.72 that's supposed to fall between 50m-150m, which is basically the entire point of this thread.
You're middle 100 is 9.21
19.41 - 14.41 = 5.00. Not that hard of a math problem.
5.70
4.18
4.53
5.00
Those are more realistic splits.
There. after analyzing some data, the first 50 is now much closer to what is realistically possible given he ran 9.88 the first 100.

Yet your math is still wrong.
If the splits were truly 9.88, 14.41, and 19.41, with a middle 100 of 8.72, the 50 meter times would be:
5.69
4.19 (9.88)
4.53 (14.41)
5.00 (19.41)
You're very close, but your middle 100 adds up to 8.71 not 8.72.

Yes, but that did not happen.
maybe this will help

Which is the entire point of the thread. Where did so called 8.72 100m split come from then?
If you pause the video, he is clearly before the 50m mark at 5.4, and clearly ahead of it at 5.5.
So, lets cut the 2 and make the first 50m 5.45. We have the rest of the splits, because they were electronically timed.
5.45
9.88 (4.43)
14.41 (4.53)
19.41 (5.00)
the middle 2 added together would be 8.96 then...
Even if you round up or down, it's + or - 0.1 at MOST from 8.96
one more. the beginning of 5.4
That is physically impossible to be at 5.5 or 5.4 at the 50 meter mark. When Bolt ran 9.69, which is quite a bit faster than the 9.88 Gay opened up with, Bolt ran 5.66. So to say Gay ran even close to 5.5 for his first 50 is just ludicrous.
So are these the splits then?
5.69
4.19 (9.88)
4.53 (14.41)
5.00 (19.41)
