"AJ Acosta running 8:52 in the steeple, 3:41 for 1,500 and 13:46 for 5,000 in a 24-hour span..."
Which was tougher, Rupp's indoor triple and times; or AJ's out door with hurdles and water jumpin'?"

AJ ran incredible, but he didn't win an event.
Cragg and Cheseret won triple crowns in the SEC and PAC10 (1500, 5, 10) in 2004. That's 30 pts!
Rupp actually won indoortitles.
AJ exceeded all expectations, but Rupp won everything he entered, and did it at nationals, not conference.
I don't think most of you get it. AJ ran the steeple. Think about it. It must have taken so much out of him to jump those barriers, yet he still came back to score in 2 more events. Clearly the best triple ever, and far better than Rupp's. I mean, indoors? That makes it much easier

You're getting carried away.
I guess most of you have short memories. LRC touted Scott MacPherson as the iron man of the week last year after he tripled at the SEC champs, winning the steeple in 8:44, taking 3rd in the 10000 in 30:17, and taking 4th in the 5000 in 14:05. 18000m of racing in 24 hours, with barriers. And one victory.
While AJ ran well, and certainly surpirsed many with that 13:46, these kinds of triples are not unheard of.
Is this the same guy who ran a downhill 4-minute mile at night with friends? That was one of the best threads in letsrun history.
That was David Torrance.

Is there some kind of ass comment in there?
That's a great triple with slower than average D1 times outside of the steeple. It's impressive that he wanted to run that much, but outside of the steeple those were some creeping races as far as an NCAA medal contender would be concerned. AJ hit marks in the 1500 and 5K that can win NCAA championships.
People forget that AJ ran 4 races not 3. That's 4 times he had to warm up, get in the zone and deliver.
Qualifying for Pac-10 1500 final is not simple.
But being up Centro's ass with 100 to go in the 1500 an then coming back and closing down on Derrick and all the boys in the 5K over the last lap is pretty friggin great.
People can do triples, but who has actually done this triple in the Pac-10 (toughest distance conference hands down) with any success? Cheseret? Martin Keino? Who else?
