Anyone ever had this? How long does it take to recover? And can I assume that any activity that does not cause pain during or after (i.e., walking w/o boot) is ok? Thanks!

Had one last year. Finally stopped running in Mid February, after trying to hobble around on it for 2 or 3 weeks. Went into a boot for 6 weeks and used a bone growth stimulator. Started running again about April 1. Apparently its a hard one to heal. I would get into a boot.

Mine took 5 months to heal to the point where I could run. I was told later on by a foot specialist that I should have been in a cast from the start. Mostly did pool running and some walking.
Just got out of my cast last week. I was in it for a month and now I have a boot. Doc says the cuboid seems healed based on my lack of response when he manipulated my foot. I probably won't be running for another month. So, maybe 8-10 weeks total. Good luck!
A cast? 5 months? I am guessing you had a complete fracture then? Mine is just a small crack on the bone. My doctor says I can try running again 6 weeks after the injury. I wore the boot for 2 weeks, then gradually came off it, and my foot does not bother me at all (4 weeks after injury) unless I walk more than a couple miles in a day (which I try not to do). Do I need to start wearing the boot again?
Mine was not a full fracture- grade 3/4 I believe. I think it depends where on the cuboid you get the fracture. My fracture was through the joint line, which made it harder to heal. I was supposed to start running again after 6 weeks, and was pain-free walking around, but when I tried to start a running progression my foot started hurting again. Another MRI revealed little to no healing, so I went back in the boot. From that point on I got periodic MRIs to monitor healing.
This may be worst- case scenario, but if I were you, I would get a follow-up MRI or x-ray to see how much it has healed.
