Not meant for serious runners. meant for the same kind of people that are into barefoot running, etc. Not interested in running fast or training hard. Simply hobby runners who put their own quirky spins on their running for an 'out of body' experience.
No, chit running is not a pile of crap!
It is CHIT!
Chit running is CHIT!
If you run like CHIT then maybe you can be a CHIT RUNNER too!

With as S I think you have this nailed.
How much did you read, the introduction? Chi running is mostly just a systematic approach to good running form.
There's nothing odd or cultish about it. If you saw someone correctly utilizing its principles, you would think, "There goes a smooth runner," not "There goes some weird chi dude." But feel free to remain closed-minded.
I'm implementing Chi Running after a diagnosis of Hallux Rigidus in one foot and in the process I have taken 30 seconds off my 10k Masters PR (now 34:40). Not bad for a 41 year-old with one working big toe.
I agree that a fast runner using Chi principles will simply look smooth, balanced and fast.
