When Nicholas Kemboi, formerly of Kenya, now representing Qatar, ran 26:30 in 2003, I assume he hadn't run many 10,000s, particularly outside of Kenya. Do any of you know if that might have been his debut? If it had been his debut, it would obviously be the fastest debut at 10,000, as opposed to Kipchoge's 26:49 on the front page.
No he ran 28+ (I think) before that...the 26:30 was a huge shock. A minute and a half pr? Crazy. There is a thread on here where his coach, Renato Canova, relates the progression of Kemboi and defends against/denys drug useage-a reasonable assumption for someone who goes from not being able to get in golden league races to one of the top performers of all time.
Either way, not a true debut, just as the debut of Haile in London wasn't really his true debut.
