other than some cosmetic changes, any significant differences?
anyone tried the DS-Racer and the Tarther?

anyone tried the DS-Racer and the Tarther?
shameless bump
I found some banditos for $60 and was thinking about buying them. I'm not really a minimalist, right now I wear the Asics 1140s and the Pulse. Would they be good for the weekly long tempo/progression run?
Also, anyone tried the Pirhana 2s?
i liked the Bandito, but don't love it
decent cushion for the weight. modicum of stability so it might be a nice transition from the 1140 for you - certainly a whole lot lighter
for me, two negatives, really butt ugly (which really doesn't matter) and the inside is kind of rough - have to wear decently thick socks with them
running warehouse has them - delivered for $59.88
To answer the OPs question:
The DS-Racer 8 is much more than a cosmetic difference. The new DS is lighter and much more responsive than the Bandito, and the fit is much snugger (similar to some Nike Flats, actually). The Bandito was more of a marathon flat/borderline lightweight trainer. The DS is clearly geared towards the speedier athletes who want their racing flats to last for more than a couple of hard races. Also, perforated midsole = water gets in easy, water gets out easy. Would make a very nice Tri shoe.

??? think i gotta call B.S.
listed weight is the same. 7.9 oz. for 9's
snugger? running warehouse says the forefoot is wider?
http://www.runningwarehouse.com/descpageMRS-ASDSR8.htmlBandito also has the perforated midsole - works very well for heavy sweaters wanting to avoid squishy shoe syndrome
X2 on the BS call. The new DS Racer IS the Bandito Is the Ohana with a medial post. Asics' biggest screw-up ever, IMO, was disco-ing the Ohana.
Before it was discontinued, I use to race in the banditos. Felt it was a good mid-level shoe, not to light and with some support. Recently though I bought a pair of the DS Racers planning on using them for longer races with Pirannas for shorter. I was out of town one time and was scheduled for a long run and all I had was the DS Racer and loved the way the shoe felt so now I do all my training in them. One pair has almost 250 miles with no detectable problems (ie legs don't ache after some runs or minor pains appear. thats my test for when to get new shoes) So no the Racer is my training and racing shoe (10k+) and the Piranna is for 5k or less.
thanks for replying
notice any differences between the Bandito and DS-Racer?
