i've been doing some research, trying to find some flat 10ks around my area (live in kentucky, but am willing to travel a decent distance), but the the crescent city classic keeps coming up in results.
if anyone knows of any fast 10ks around kentucky/ohio, that would be a bonus. thanks.
Try Cleveland. The world record used to be from that course.
Someone on this site told me about the Octoberfest 10k in Minster, Ohio. Looks like they run some fast times there.
Also check out Native Sun Mandarin Run in Florida and Azalea Trail Run in Alabama. I have run both and can confirm they are flat and fast.

Crescent City Classic is fast, but running up Esplanade, which is a VERY poorly paved road, is hard on your legs. The weather will also play into effect. This year it was very humid and many felt the effects of the humidity in their race, especially those who travelled from out of town.
Beach to Beacon is the fastest 10K in America. Not sure what the fastest one near KY/OH is...

Agreed. Usually it's quite humid for CCC but sometimes they catch a break with a nice day. I remember one year in the 90s when a top American (I think it was Ed Eyestone) dropped due to heat exhaustion.
B2B has a more competitive field than most other 10k races in the US, which explains the fast times. Having run both I would say Azalea Trail is a course more conducive to fast times.

Azalea Trail is a great race with very few turns for a 10K road course. There is one slight bump/hill around mile 3, but otherwise it is very flat. The only issue is that it is held at the same time of year as the Crescent City Classic - so it can potentially be humid.
