no offense but Why is it that 80% of Nike training shoes aren't really meant for running? For example, notice that maybe 80% of Nike "running shoes" you would find at a department store or Footlocker all suck and are more like cross training shoes. Why is that?

Probably because most people who buy "running" shoes like Shox aren't really going to run in them anyway, so Nike just makes them a comfortable general purpose shoes.

Yes, but take companies like Brooks and Saucony. Clearly their "running shoes" are used by persons of which greater percentage% are actually RUNNERs, you know?

Yeah, but why are there tons of nike crap shoes grouped in with real nike shoes such as bowerman series shoes and nike spikes?
Most runners know that nike makes great if not the best spikes and competition shoes and a few good (usually specificaly marked as bowerman series) trainers, the same ones sold to real runners/joggers at speciality running stores, but everything else (which is like 90percent of Nike's low-top "running/cross training" shoe product line is complete crap, usually the kind of stuff you get at Sports Authority, Dicks Sporting Goods, etc
Did you know that of the millions of people that sign up with health clubs around January 1, only 10% consistently use it after February 1? Same concept with athletic shoes. Why put out 10+ amazing running shoes, when you really only need to put out 4 amazing running shoes, then add those additional 6+ to the cross-training line. The majority of runners run less than two days a week. Do they really need great shoes? No, they just need shoes that suit what they do and look nice.
I believe the number of non-runners wearing running shoes is around 70%.

Why is that? Well actually it isn't, you see. Nike Running shoes are made for running.
Why is it that some people make a conscious decision, ahead of time, to simply not like Nike and bash them with silly posts like this? Why is that?

because I'm tired of going to running stores and having to sort through real Nike running shoes vs. wannabe crosstraining Nike running shoes.
with Brooks/NB/Saucony and the other brands, I don't have to do that.
Well, go to a running store that only stocks the decent shoes, or choose another brand. And, it's not only Nike. A big portion of Asics line would get nowhere near my feet.
I am lost... ppl actually wear running shoes for fashion? That is quite stupid. I hope they at least plan to go for walks or something.
Why pay $80-100+ for a pair of good running shoes at a running store when you can pay $40-50 at Target or wherever for a Nike Dart?
Years ago I used to run in the Nike Dart along with "real" running shoes. It was no different than their other clunkers. I wouldn't even try running in a Nike Shox.
My first pair of running shoes were from MacGregor at JC Penny. I believe they had velcro. Had no problems with them. Used them until the winter I'm sure.
