Lagat needs to move up in distance and be done with anything below 3000 meters.
This is what happens when you hang around the PROs when past your prime. Slowly - your competitors get closer to you - and then slowly they start beating you. Then one day you wake up and your the dude bringing up the rear.
Lagat and Lagat are nowadays training together in Tucson Arizona so it seems like lalang has got to know lagat's strong points and weaknesses and can capitalise on them.lalaang has alot of talent.
I meant lalaang and lagat are training partners.

And why am I an idiot? Lagat is getting older and speed is the first to go. He has nothing left to prove in anything below 3000 meters.
In my opinion, he can either keep running miles nowhere near his PR/AR and lose occasionally, or he can focus on moving up to the 5000 meters where he has a better shot of dominating and breaking the AR.
Why not break new ground instead of losing ground?
He didn't look too shabby in World Indoors?
Lagat doesn't care as long as it isn't a Amrican, that guy was one of this Countryman.....!...Lagat wants to break Ritz's American record so he rub it in our faces.
Doesn't anybody else think that Lagat took a dive here to help his training partner and their manager. Lagat and Lalang train together and both are managed by James Templeton. Lagat's resume is stellar, and Templeton won't ever have a problem getting him a lane in any meet. Lalang is an upstart who needs to bolster his resume to increase his appearance fees and get into better meets. He just got a big scalp today, and at a meet where Lagat wasn't giving up much by losing. I'm not saying it's a fact, but it's certainly a possibility.

The money is in the mile/1500m. It's the reason that Sullivan stays in the event, and he hasn't improved in years either (these guys are the same age).
3 running events count - 100m, 1500/Mile, Marathon. No one cares about the others, really. You go where the bucks are, the 5000m is an after-thought for Lagat, and he can do both events.
why doesnt bekele did the marathon then
*beaten
Tommy Schmitz needs a job.
This is a great day for white distance fans!

Geez, Lagat gets beat by a guy who was on the Kenyan Olympic team in the 800m and now he should hang 'em up because he's done? Only on Letsrun...
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
