Anyone been attacked or harassed while running on Halloween or Mischief Night ( oct 30 )? I was pegged in the head with an egg while trick or treating when I was a kid and lost my innocence. Boo Hoo.
While out running those nights, it is always in the back of my head that some turd with a paintball gun is looking for a target. Might just do the treadmill this year or just have a couple of beers.
I was hit in the back by two eggs last year. It was a drive-by so there was nothing I could do about it. I can't get too pissed about it either, as it's something I would have done when younger (I certainly wouldn't do it now...).
Running on Halloween can be a lot of fun. I always make a point of stopping at houses during the run and getting candy. Nothing like a few chocolate bars in the middle of a 10 miler.
I was trail running one Halloween night with my walkman. A news report broke and said a killer had escaped from the prison nearby. He escaped by grabbing a scalpel in the imfirmary and was considered armed and dangerous.
I was leaning next to a tree, getting a breather, when I heard the news. Of course, it scared the hell out of me. I took off and set a pr for the second half of my run. I got home, closed the door and locked it, glad to be in the security of my home. When I took off my jacket, something fell to the floor. There, covered in blood, laid a scalpel.
The killer was never caught. And I haven't run in those woods since.
I want my scalpel back.
You can have it when you buy me a new jacket.
I only ran on Halloween night once. My neighborhood is filled with kids and I just know I'm going to get egged if I try it. The one time I did was pretty late and was uneventful, except for some goober saying, "Hey, ya out running off all the chocolate you ate tonight?"
Why don't you take the defensive, and go out with a couple of eggs on your run. The kids that throw them at you will never expect return fire. Just have one in each hand.
Two years ago, I had someone egg me as I ran. I ran after them, but the guy (probably around 15-16 years of age) got away. However, I caught his little brother. I yelled to the guy that he might want to come back for his brother. When he came back, I tossed the little guy aside and proceeded to beat the snot out of the guy.
I normally wait until most of the trick-or-treaters are gone before I head out for a run. At that point, you're just dodging pumpkin guts from the pumpkins who were sacrificed to the gods of the pavement.

On Halloween I assume I'm going to have a few eggs thrown at me.
In HS a friend of mine got hit right on top of the coconut. When we turned around it was a fat f*** girl who had thrown it. That made us laugh even harder.
We chased the fat f*** just slowly enough to force her to run to exhaustion.
I wasn't attacked but I once yelled "Trick or Treat Motherf***er" to an old lady as she opened the door. Damn she was scared.
