4 x 800 - Who You Got Penn State Or Oregon (or UVA and others)

Oregon won't win the 4x8 regardless. Just won't. It'll be either Virginia or Penn State.

I think it really depends on who Oregon uses on the other relays.

The can actually have a very good 4XMile without Wheating and Fleet.

Centro - 3:36 (anchor)

McNamara - 3:41 (leg 3)

Maag - 4:00 mile (leg 2)

Acosta - 3:58 mile (lead off)

I wouldn't be surprised to see them in that order on the 4Xmile if they want a serious shot at the 4X800.

Then you only have to run Fleet, Wheating, Thompson and Greer once (at most) before the 4X800 which would be today in the DMR.

Let's see what Lananna decides, but that would be my move.

And I'd go Fleet - Thompson (or different 400 guy) - Greer - Wheating on the DMR in that order.

They'd have plenty left tomorrow on the 4 x 800 and unless Wheating can split 1:44 if he has a deficit to make up.

McNamara is injured right now. He won't be running.

I'm thinking Penn State is gonna take it. They have just been too strong and fast and have put up some pretty solid performances so far with all of them getting close to their PR's in the 800 as well as some quick times in other events like 3:41 for Foster, 3:45 for Dawson and a 47 high open 400 for Cas. I would love to see them go out there and really stick it to everyone especially Oregon and I'm gonna predict they go between 7:10-7:14. After that its gonna be a super close race between Oregon and UVA, and I would love to see Robby nick Andrews again. All in all, this is gonna be an intense race of the ages!

I wondered about that since he didn't race in their last few meets. Too bad, guy has a lot of injuries in the past it seems. Hopefully this is all being overly cautious and he'll be healthy by regionals.

After watching the DMR today, I would not bet against Wheating. Catching Wheating by surprise at the end of a race on the boards is one thing, but unless Wheating has to run 3:55 or better in the mile tomorrow (if they even run him) he should have plenty left to blow out the 800 guys.

If Andrews can beat Wheating tomorrow that kid is a monster and ready to make a world team, but more likely he's going to be wondering how he ever managed to beat him even on the boards.

If I was Andrews (or Vig), I'd just sit on him. If Wheating can't outkick him sort of fresh....

Their only prayer is that he's very tired. In the case of indoors he was not only tired, but he was 6'5" on banked corners, got cut off a couple times AND got caught by surprise.

It's hard to imagine all of those stars aligning against him (or for Andrews) again.

He looks phenomenal right now.

And all that's assuming UVA is anywhere close with a lap to go....

I'm betting Greer, Wheating, Thompson, Fleet in the 4 X 800 and then Acosta, Maag, Wheating, Centro in the 4 X Mile. Wheating took it easy today and if he runs the second leg of the 4 X 800, he won't have to expend all of his energy, leaving the explosive kicks to Thompson and Fleet.

You bring up a good point. Fleet is very strong on the kick too, but Wheating could blow the thing open on the second leg with a 1:45.

So no wheating on the 4 x mile.

That means Greer and Thompson are fresh, wheating should be plenty fresh but fleet should be tired.

Fleet looks very solid at Penn so I don't see him failing the ducks on the 4 X 800.

Speaking of Fleet, he blew Everett away on the DMR leg, don't think Texax has a strong shot.

As for Robby Andrews, he's fresh but probably a little nervous. He hasn't gotten his feet wet yet but has seen Oregon blow people out thus far.

LSU, UVA, Oregon and perhaps Texas should make this exciting.
