Fagan is not with McMillan Elite

but I do not really give two sh*ts how Adidas feels about. Since he is coached by McMillan and trains with McMillan Elite, I will continue to refer to him as a member of McMillan Elite. I also don't care if the NY marathon wants me to call it the "ING NYC Marathon."

Intteresting response. I hope Adidas feels like they are getting something out of this relationship.

Well they have just got 2 posts worth of extra creditfor nothing, and assuming that other people thinkin like you have and associate Adidas with Mcmillan then they have a whole front page piece of free advertising as well!

Seems to me that this is good for adidas not bad!

No such thing as training at altitude in Ireland. Unless you want to run around and around in very small circles on the very top of Carrauntoohil. Also, very few runners of his calibre to train with.

It is also a bit more confusing in that Fagan is sponsored by Reebok (which is owned by adidas), but they like to keep the brands seperate.

That is total dis-respect to McMillan. He's becoming one of the best distances coaches in the country. On another note, why doesn't Ritz train in Michigan? Can't he find a coach equal or better credentials then Alberto, again no dis-respect to Alberto.

what? Ritz is American lives there and his coach is American, Fagan is Irish lives in USA competes for Ireland and is coached by American, excuse me but where is the comparison

and not dis-respected McMillan, agree he is a good coach but in Ireland there are high quality coaches and other athletes close to his(Fagan's) caliber

What Irish runner is even close to Fagan (when Fagan is healthy)? Name some of these coaches who have great groups of guys for Fagan to train with.

McMillan Elite is the Adidas sponsored athletes under the development program.

Team USA Arizona are all USA athletes coached by Greg...so pretty much all of the McMillan Elite athletes, plus the contracted ones.

Martin isn't on either because he's not an American citizen, but he is still coached by Greg.

The one time I spoke to Martin Fagan, he said something to the effect that Greg coaches him, but he doesn't do much of his stuff with the McMillan guys. I think he generally does his own thing. At least that was my interpretation.

There is a fantastic running tradition in Ireland but right now there is no Irish runner at Martin's level save Alistair Cragg who is South African lives in the States and competes for Ireland. Ian O'Riordan's Times article today says Fagan's 2:14 is the fastest Irish time in the marathon since Mark Carroll ran 2:10 nearly 10 years ago. Christie, Kenneally, Mulvey etc are all good runners just well behind Fagan and Craggs level. And the up and comers are in America too like David McCarthy at Providence. And then there is the weather which while beautiful the last few weeks is not benficial to the 130 mile weeks Martin wants and the altitude which was already mentioned.

McCarthy ain't at providence any more bud.

you are right on! Fagan takes a little from Mcmillan, but he will be the first one to tell you "he does his own thing".
