The Chicago Rock and Roll Half Marathon costs how much!!

Will there be a Rock-n Roll golf tournament this year? R-n-R World Series? R-n-R Superbowl ? Sorry but I don't see the connection between foot races and rock and roll music.

The Penguin can take that race and shove it up his ass.

All of the RNR events with a half and full marathon will be charging the same price for either event. Good old capitalism at its finest. Buy them all up and charge what you want.

and guess what? It will sell out regardless....they run a great operation, they support elite and up and coming american runners at many of their events. Yes it expensive, but their events are consitently well run, well marketed, and many of the concerts are actually worth seeing afterwards. $110 seems like a bargain compared to what it costs to ski, play a round of golf, take a family to a baseball game, etc etc

if you consider cost for travel and lodging, race fees are usually minor and can be ignored. ;) That at least is what RNR thinks...

Running was more fun when it wasn't cool.

When I see the words Rock and Roll in the name, I don't even think about running the event.

Just give me a few hundred good runners, an accurate course with accurate mile markers, and a couple cookies at the finish!!! That can easily be done for $35.

I ran 10 km last week which charged $10. At the end, the category winners chose a prize from the prize table (all donated.) Got a time and a place. There was even a small profit at the end which went to a local charity.

No this wasn't 1978, it was last week!!

The Ogden 20k which is a great race is charging $25 pre-register and they even have a FREE luncheon after the race!!

Last year's race sucked. Most local up-and-comers didn't even run. The only cool thing about the race was Kara Goucher running it.

The competition sucked. Believe me, I finished top 50 and I am not that good.

At that price, even more good locals will avoid the race. And, other than Kara, what "elite" runners ran last year? I think no one. Will this race pull big names? The Chicago Half Marathon and The North Shore Half Marathon (in Highland Park) are much better races and have lower entry fees. If you are going to be in the Chicago area, or live around here, I urge you to take a closer look at the North Shore Half Marathon.

At least it isin't Paul McCartney playing. You'd pay $300 for an entry fee.

Actually, the rock concerts at halftime of the Superbowl are always very popular

The competitor group has gone crazy with power.

The chicago half marathon in september is a much better race. Great course up and down lakeshore dr and half the cost now.

Sounds pricey to me too, so don't pay it if you don't want to, but the recession has been over since summer 2009 brother.

The course sucks too.
