Goodbye 2012? Radcliffe is pregnant...again!

Pregnancy is natural blood doping. And she will have a year of light training while everyone else is out trying to pound out two to three marathons a year to win the majors bonus. She won't be the 2:15 Paula in 2012, but she will be in good form and have a shot.

Her sub 2:25 days are over. The question is when will her 2:15 fall off the top 10 list? Currently #10 preformer is about 4 minutes and 30 seconds slower hell #2 is 2 and a half back.

I don't think this is what's ending her chances in 2012. She wasn't going to do it anyway.

Bill Rodgers has been on the top 10 list since boston 79 and Patti DEillon since Boston `81.

Fall off the top ten list? There's nobody that will knock her out of the top spot anytime soon.

In terms of performance, her best time is certainly behind her. No way we're going to see another 2:15-2:18 from her again and 2:19 I also doubt.

However, I think that with taking training easy this year and then SLOWLY building it up again and focusing in THAT ONE single race, she can do it, win in London. It doesn't need a 2:17h to win there. 2:22 may be enough. I think it's possible. It will certainly be her last race though, I am sure.

Does WADA drug test athletes during their pregnancies?

I wouldn’t write off Paula’s chances in 2012.

The Olympic marathon, especially for women, is often a lottery.

Who would have picked Constantina Tomescu to win the Beijing marathon - and the slowish winning time.

Tomescu was 38 when she won - the same age Paula will be in 2012.

If she can stay injury free once she get back into hard training - who knows?

Women’s marathon times certainly haven’t progressed as the men’s have and I can’t see many women running under 2.20 in the near future.
