IAAF should have made a decision by now

I agree with you 100% IAAF definitely should have made a decision by now. The test have been conducted and they have recieved the results; however, they drag their feet in making a decision. Streching out this case makes me believe that Caster Semenya should be cleared to run; however, someone in IAAF personally feels otherwise and thus making her wait in hopes of the federation finding a way of banning her without a lawsuit.

Skyscrapers have been builty faster than its taking IAAF to reach a verdict. It's not like anything is being disputed, everyone is just waiting on the test results and the IAAF's decision. Whats the hold-up?

Caster is a man and jogged half those races. She/He/It could go sub 1:52 easily.

I'm guessing they're trying to make completely sure that when they do make the right decision (barred from women's events), they're all sorted on the legal front.

A situation like this, especially given the propensity for South Africans too call racism at any opportunity, has the potential to be very costly for the IAAF.

I wonder what would the IAAF do if Caster decides to run tomorrow and they later find her eligible? According to the article she hasn't been banned but POSSIBLY agreed not to compete until a decision has been determined.

I understand the legal implications the IAAF may face pending the decision thus taking it precautions; however, this has been pending since Sept 2009 (almost 7 months). Its one lady, the results have been completed, PLEASE make a decision.

If I was the coach of Caster Semenya and I was positive she posed no advantage or decieved in any manner, I would allow my athlete to compete in the meet tomorrow and any meet following.

Not all of the bribes and back-handers are in yet.

But how would he know if she poses an advantage or not? You can call this whatever you want but SHE has parts of a HE. She has something of three times the normal amount of testosterone that a female has and its still a debate on whether she/he has an unclear advantage? SHE/HE does!

first, Jelimo didn't run close to those times last year, and second, Semenya ran those times barely into his first year of international competition as a teenager and should blast by those this year. Unfortunately, it would take a sub 1:46 to get the A standard for the next world champs, and I don't think that he will ever do that.

last year at the african games she easily beat kalkidan gezahegne who ran 4:02 last year and this year is the world 1500 indoor champion, if caster semenya is allowed to run i think before the london olympics, she will have both the 800 and 1500 world records.

she beats a 4'02 gal last year & that means she is going to run 3'50 within 2y ?!?!

I really don't understand all the fuss about Caster Semenya and the World Record because if anyone is a candidate for the 800m WR its Pamela Jelimo. Last year Pamela had subpar training after her AMAZING 2008 season and then she got injuried. Pamela's 2009 season was to me incredible considering you mixed Pamela's subpar training and injury and she still ran sub 2 minutes.

In her debut season at 800m Pamela Jelimo ran SIX 800m faster than Caster Semenya's personal best. Pamela also ran FIVE sub 1:55 and Caster Semenya no sub 1:55. Caster Semenya season was incredible but when talking about 800m WR there is really no way you can't include the name of a HEALTHY and fit Pamela Jelimo!

Semenya ran 1.55 without hardly breaking into a sweat, with essentially only a few months of proper structured training.

Looks capable of 1.50 to me.

Did you see Semenya's win in the final? It was pretty clear he could go a lot faster, but I would guess he was instructed not to win by too much. Unfortunately this smart strategy was ruined by the bicep flexing following the race. Hell, he could probably still be running if someone would've slapped a wig on him, told him to win by less than a second, and had him do interviews in falsetto.

Caster Semenya has not accomplish any more than Janet Jepkosgei. Whats really interesting is that in each of the last 3 years someone has dominated the 800m on the women side with none of them come close to repeating the following year.

Of the three I agree Pamela Jelimo is my pick to break the 800m WR if she can return to 2008 form. Its going to be interesting to see if the Americans can continue to improve and join the 3 dominating foreigners as the best in the world at 800m?

What Semenya has or hasn't achieved is irrelevant.

I'm presuming if you're putting Jepkosgei and Jelimo in the same ballpark as Semenya, you didn't see the race last year and are just going by stats.

It's obvious that Semenya can run much much faster than 1.55.

It was quite obvious that Semenya could have run at least two seconds faster in Berlin, and maybe three. Once her lead became substantial, she stopped accelerating. I think she understood what the repercussions of a win by about six seconds would have been.

everything about this is about money. it is a huge lawsuit the iaaf wants to avoid and the tarnishing of the world track governing body that likely has huge skeletons in its closet. no one in the iaaf wants an investigation of the organization that has money problems and likely drug cover-ups as well.
