In a recent issue of popular mechanics I came across an advert for a shoe that has a car-like shock absorber system in the back heal. It states you will run faster with less injury, and the only reason professionals athletes aren't using it is because it would give them an unfair advantage. I am not crazy about the sperm cell looking logo on the shoe, but if it will prevent injuries for a weekend 5:00 - 6:00 minute miler maybe it is worth the $119. It looks to have some sophisticated engineering. It has something called a smart memory spring to adjusts to the weight of the runner/walker. It is kind of neat looking, but is it really just a gimmick.
