Just listened to the John Cook training talk--great interview! I'm a high school track and cc coach and have been incorporating more and more general strength, alactic, circuits, core, plyos, etc. over the last few years and it has been effective.
The two main improvements: 1. fewer injuries--especially with girls 2. better finishing speed in all races.
My approach, though, is scatter shot. I use a lot of gs stuff from Jay Johnson's site, a core routine that Florida State uses that I found on flocast, BUT I don't feel like it's necessarily an intelligent progression.
Cook mentions a number of influence: Dan Pfaff(sp) the hurdle coach from Illinois I think, and others. Any resources or suggestions available to help me organize and develop this?
