Not shaving till Nats

Easy. Quit whining on a message board, reach down below the waistband, grab hold and squeeze, then run the qualifier!

It is an easy decision. Do you need the job. I am guessing yes. Do you need the beard. I am geussing no.

Obviously you are missing the point guys. I am sick of following rules that make no damn sense. Of conforming and following everyone around like sheep. They tell you to be an individual and when you try, they ask why you are doing what you do. Then they try to take it away from you. Does this make sense? Not to me.

do not shave the hair or cut the hair. every year i grow my hair and beard out until after nationals, on which i clean shave and trim the hair down to a respectable, (i use this word loosely), length and start over until the next national performance. maybe it is mental, but is it any different than not washing your socks all season. or wearing the same underwear for every race, same routine, same breakfast, same dinner, same warm-up. all of this shit is mental to a certain extent. yes some routine things are physically helpful to a performance. yet we all do a plethora of things that are mentally untestable and benefitial to our individual needs. those needs are whatever we "think" we need...keep the hair. because we believe it is helping, it is the cause and it takes our mind off the task at hand...yet we are always focussed enough to train and race. consider it a stress reliever. i believe runners are some of the most supersticious (sp) people around and i firmly believe in the story of sampson from the biblical text. cut your hair...loose your power. i have shaved early twice, i was injuried within two weeks each time. could be bad timing or me being a head case. however, i would strongly encourage you to keep the power.

You may be missing the point. You have set up rules with the not shaving thing and are now upset that others don't fall into line following your views. As John Wooden once said to a star player Richard Washington, who told Coach he wouldn't cut his hair, "Your teammates and I are very proud of the fact that you are standing up as an individual and standing up for your beliefs. We will miss you, but we admire your convictions." It was cut by the end of the day. Make a decision. Is this important enough to make a battle or is it something to let go and save the anger and energy for a bigger cause.

not conforming? how about growing up. how about having dignity and respect for oneself to present yourself in a professional manner.

Getting a mullet would be sweet and a great business move. You could get an awsome sponsorship from places like, truck repair shops, mobile home dealerships, the state of alabama, and the list goes on......

Maybe you should take a desk job rather that perform manual labor. You have a firm grasp of the English language. Failing that approach maybe you should claim religious reasons for your unkempt appearance. Then when they fire your ass you can file a discrimination suit, win a large settlement, and quit working altogether.

For the love of god I hope that they don't kill your dream of working at Fareway grocery stores.

Hey hippie, sanitary food conditions do make damn sense

So you work 6 hours a week and will graduate in about 10 weeks. So 60 hours at 7 bucks an hour is $420. After taxes, more like $350. You decide.

Thanks for the help everyone...I made a decision and cut it. However I still plan on getting to nationals with or without hair.

You know Viren did that no shaving thing back in the day and look where that got him. Uhh, never mind, I guess it worked out for him.
