could he do it? he has the 100 and the 200. he just split close to the world record in a relay 4x4 after running the 4x1 earlier. it looks like he could get the 400 record as soon as he wants it, or does he stick with the 1 and the 2 this year trying to lower those times even more. if he breaks the world record in the 400 in his second or third try does he then say well that was easy let me try the 800 now?

i wouldnt hand him the record either but after everything we have seen from bolt so far it wouldnt surprise me at all if the split was reliable. its a hypothetical question anyway. if he could break the 400 in his second or third try at it should he then look at the 800 considering how long it took mj to get to that point in the 400. if so would you be surprised if he ran an 800 open or some kind of relay next march in a 143? i doubt it would progress that fast anyways considering the olympics would be the year after that but it is interesting to think about. maybe after 2012 if he wins 100 200 and 400 gold. 2016 - 200 400 800?
The 400 turns are hardly going to hurt him since he already seems to have mastered the 200m curve.
However the only way he'll break the 800m record is if he's dropped out of an airplane.

He is the 200m world record holder, do not worry about his turn running ability!
And he will never break 1:48 in the 800m. He is a short distance sprinter, not a middle distance runner. He barely has the engine to take him around the track once, let alone twice. He will never be world class at 800m. Even including the 800m in this discussion is rediculous.

Well, I thought that 2 turns might make a difference. No doubt he's mastered the 100 meter start, but perhaps the second turn requires a slightly different strategy. Looking at a 19.19 analysis, I see that he actually benefits in the turn, because his long stride actually gets him out of them faster than his opponents- his 50-100 split was his fastest!

I see 100-200-4x1- a few early season 4x4s till 2012OG with 4x4 only in champslevel races.
Serious 400 training would rob some of his 100 top end and doubt we have seen his ultimate top end yet.
He is a speeed sprinter not a strength sprinter(right now).
I can see a 200/400 28 year old. If Jam can grow some other 800 guys- I can see UB taking a leg4x8.
It would be nice, but I don`t think of him as a Juantorena in 2016.

u think MJ could run under 10 seconds for the 100??? there was already a thread about this about how fast lebron(who is probably not much slower then MJ) could run, and he couldnt even appraoch 10. MJ was one of the greatest to ever step on the court, but there is no way he breaks 10.
