You usually try to have you fastest guy run the longest distance by making the exchange early in the zone and the opposite for your slowest guys. But, I can see the Jamaicans wanting to make headlines with Bolt and have him run as short a distance as possible.

How many 400s does he even have on his schedule? He's running 100m in NYC in June, but I haven't seen other details of his schedule online...

He's gunning for 2011 and 2012, so my best guess is that he breaks the 400m either right before or right after the '11 WC

SARMS aren't going to make a whole hell of a lot of difference in performance...and by no means explain his ability to grab both the 100m and 200m WORLD RECORDS.

I think he is gene doping, what he is doing is on a whole different level...but f*** off if you wish for him to get caught...

I was only bringing to the conversation a documented case of the efforts to progress the state of drug testing. I hope that Usain is clean. Someone else brought up the idea of this product being used by athletes. I hope that those athletes that are using it are found out.

fair to say that this performance equates to something closer to low to mid 44 for a regular 400m race, when you factor in the reaction time and lack of running start, as well as the more precise timing. but coming in February, it does nothing to reduce speculation that he can break that 400m record in the next few years.

At Beijing, in the U.S.'s Olympic record 4x400 of 2:55, Angelo Taylor, a low 44 guy, split 43.70 and Jeremy Wariner, a 43.45 guy, at anchor split 43.18.

Michael Johnson's 42.91 split (pr 400m 43.18) at the 1993 World Championships is the fastest ever, according to Wikipedia.

The split is taken when the outgoing runner crosses the starting line, not when the exchange happens.
