Anyone else here enjoy drinking alone? When I say alone, I mean either literally alone in your house or at a bar with people around, but no one you know.
I am by no means an alcoholic (I drink once or twice a week and get drunk about once every 3 months). Yet today, I have the urge to drink alone and reflect on life. Don't think I'll be able to anytime soon though....too much to do and too many social plans. Oh well.
I almost never do it alone. However, I was in Vegas for work last month and I spent a few hours playing the slots at the Wynn resort...lots of rum and cokes and gin and tonics were consumed. Tipped the cocktail waitress $1/drink and she kept coming back. Yes, it was fun, but I think most of it was because I was in Vegas.
I like to drink alone sometimes. I love margaritas and I can make a pretty good one. So I'll make up a batch and have a few. At least I don't have to drive afterward!
You can't be seriously. Whoever says they don't like to occasionally put on half a load by themselves to reflect, chill with some tunes, etc, either never tried it or is lying.
I don't drink anymore ....but I sure as hell don't drink any less.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

In college, I used to drink while I did homework and wrote papers. PBRers and White Russians were my drinks of choice. Really made the whole process more enjoyable.
Technically, yes. Stereotypically, no.
If it's a routine domestic night, I'll have one normal serving of beer while I'm making dinner. 50/50 whether family is home by the time I finish it. But on some nights I don't feel like having a beer, period, either because it's late or I'm not in the mood for one. I might have one if I'm solo traveling and am set in hotel/motel for the night.
I never have cared for daytime drinking, from my few experiences with it. Even one makes me tired or off my game for hours. I'm not the type to head to a bar alone just to drink or possibly meet regulars. Also not the kind to drink-to-think (the stereotype).

Yes, I enjoy drinking. The presence or absence of company doesn't make a difference. I'm looking forward to going home, uncorking a bottle of pinot noir and watching the snow fall.

What is your recipe? I am making a batch for dinner tomorrow night and might need to upgrade.
I tend to keep it simple - 3/2/1
1 1/2 oz quality tequila
1 oz cointreau
1/2 oz fresh lime juice (sometimes more)
salt rim with flaked kosher salt.
Tart, but good nonetheless. I am worried it might be too tart/strong for company, as most think of slushies when they think margaritas. What do you think?

use white tequila and add a splash of lemon
I prefer drinking with all my friends.....
Oops I forgot, I don't have any friends, down the hatch!
Shit. Now I'm jealous that you guys get to do it tonight and I don't. Belgian strong ales tend to be my weapon of choice. Occasionally wine. The only reason I ever drink hard booze is to "be social" and do a shot with someone.

I like that song, but it never seemed like much of a drinking alone song to me.
Excluding one instance of drinking alone at my house in college (where too many dark and stormies were consumed), my experiences alone with the bottle have been positive. Just this past week I went to a quiet bar by myself to grab a drink and reflect; it was delightful. If you choose this route, be sure that you can control the music (from the juke box) and have a comfortable booth/chair to rest your weary bones.
