So I just got this email informing me that the tickets for the diamond league meet in NYC are going onsale soon. The seat in the section that I paid $60.00 for last year, is now going for $275.00.
Are these people out of their darn minds?
I guess there will be one less person in them there stands.

Last year you didn't get shoes, apparel, food and an open bar with your $60 ticket.

Granted I haven't paid more than $10 to go to a track meet in a long time but I assume the $60 seat in the past was a pretty good seat?
They've got Usain Bolt and it sounds like they're trying to get some premium $$$ for him. Considering an upper deck seat at a the Dallas Cowboys new stadium is over $100, I'm not too surprised. You can always watch the meet on TV instead.
As you said, that's what you'll be doing.

With Bolt coming, the meet will be a sellout, and it will sell out soon.
If Bolt DQ's do we get our money back ? You know how those elites just want their appearance money ?
Went to this meet couple years ago and it was INSANE. I loved every minute of it. This years general tickets are cheaper than the London Grand Prix (which also featured Bolt. also went to this meet-it was worth every penny). I highly recommend anyone in the tri state area to get out to Icahn and support your sport.
People bitch and moan about how our sport is presented poorly; this meet is an exception, with fabulous announcing, lively fans and great competition.
There are maybe 250 seats that are $250.00 out of like 10,000. The rest of the finishline seats are around $75.00 and the prices drop from there.
Don't make up excuses why you can support track and field.

You're kidding? It will be sold out as soon as the tickets go on sale. Those premium seats will be gone BEFORE they go on sale.
yes...indeed meet will sell-out FAST! Bolt plus crazy Jamaican community equals fast sell-out. As for the event schedule, that is not an adidas Grand Prix issue, thats a Diamond League issue. Its the way the series is set-up. Yep, some events will be missing, on the other hand, the idea is to get some serious head to head match-ups which have been missing in the past. Quite simply Bolt VS Gay will be a hell of a story, and the Womens 5K will be nuts. Not sure you need too much else. Spend 75 bucks and support the best meet on your own home-turf--we need more meets like this one.
AT least you can buy a seat. We know though that the Jamaicans will buy up all the seats and are 95% of the fans at that meet. But at WC 2009 Berlin the entire 100 stretch and head on / 1st turn seating was blocked out for the IAAF and was not for sale to the public.
Hey! Someone's gotta pay for Lamine Diack's US$5000/night suite at the Waldorf Astoria, and his First Class ticket to NYC! We can't let the poor guy ride in economy and stay at the Super 8 Motel in Brooklyn ya know!?
If it was just LD it would't be that bad for IAAF Outdoor WC, WXC, WIC. But Sergei Bubka and thousands of other IAAF, EAA, IOC, USATF, etc. big shots and their entourages have to be given the same accommodations as Diack. Its the infamous gravy train. Perk swapping is what they live for. And you know who pays their bills, the poor suckers in the cheap seats.

You'll never get Doug Logan, Mary Wittenberg, Stephanie Hightower, etc. to accept lowlander accommodations though ;-)

That's what I don't get in American sports and their 'fans'... they pay tons for a crappy seat in the upperdeck of gigantic stadium, additional parking fee and yet are complaining about prizes to see Bolt from a seat were they almost can touch one of the legends of T&F. Icahn is'nt that huge.
