Eat what you normally eat.
Dave Patrick--'68 olympian in the mile, one of the few men to beat Ryun in college--broke 4:00 at the garden for the first time less than two hours after a steak lunch. No reason not to do steak a full night's sleep before the meet.
Geoff Smith was reportedly a steak eater, too.
bernard lagat always kills some outback the night before. talked about eating the biggest steak ever the night before winning the 5000 in Osaka
Rootbeer and tuna fish.
How far is the race? What time of day is the race?
If it is an afternoon indoor meet, eat the steak. If it is an early morning marathon, don't eat the steak.
The best advice was already given: Eat what you normally eat.

You infinitive-splitting barstard.
To criticize him for using infinitives is not correct in this instance. And, to be perfectly honest, he certainly wasn't splitting infinitives.
Also, what is a barstard? I assume it's a retarded person slamming beers at happy hour.
It seemed to work for Carlos Lopes in the '84 Olympic Marathon. He had a steak a couple hours before the race.
Bernard Lagat said that he ate "the biggest steak in Japan" the night before winning the WC 5000m in Osaka, his second gold of the WC.
Unless it's a marathon, I'd do it.
Steve Ovett had a small steak for lunch before winning the Moscow 800m
It is a little know fact, but it was personally cooked by RunningArt
I show up in the oddest threads....
