Today at a running shop we had discussion that the new Boston Classic {dark color} was heavier then last years Boston Classic {white model}...Some disagreed..saying Adidas would never change the Boston Classic...the other Classic fans also said the dark Boston didnt have as much arch support...so we weighed the 2 Boston Classics...both size 11.5....dark was heavier 13.4 ounces compared to 12.6 for white..any reason why Adidas changed the shoe..??..any thoughts..??..thanks
I remember a couple of track seasons ago, we saw a similar thing with 2 Nike spikes. Same model exactly, just a different color. One of them came around in 5.9 or so oz, the other was 7.5. Weird stuff.
The Boston Classic is a great shoe..I thought Adidas would leave the shoe alone...The Adidas Universal look like a good shoe as well..but heavier then the Boston Classic

Dark colors are heavier than light colors, dumbasses.
Doesnt change the weight of a single shoe by almost a ounce...and it doesnt change the arch...where is the Adidas guy when you need him..?
As the reputed savior (by the expectations of this board) of American distance running, I'm sure Mike is downsizing someone right now for upweighing that shoe !

Great question...Note we did not make any changes to the update, and none are planned for 2005 (other than color). I just went to grab a couple of the latest colors: the dark navy color dialed in at 11.0 ounces size 9, while the white (red/blue) color came in at 10.9 ounces.
You might want to check the debut Boston Classic color for slightly less padding in the tongue, and under the insole. I can not find the 1st men's white (with true blue) color, but recall the material was upgraded slightly from the 1st one going forward.

In the shoe world, Mr. McManus is in fact at the international elite level. He also happens to be an accomplished club-level competitor as well.

Any word on the replacement for Klein? Is that pretty big news? Reebok? WTF?
What the hell...Klein left for Reebok? 'WTF' is right. What a tough time to bail. Boston is just a couple months away, right in the middle of the indoor season.

No word on TK's replacement...I'm sure a lot of people would love that position.
Todd did a wonderful job at adidas, and will be missed (including myself). Still, we currently have a couple more than capable running promotions assistants taking charge until a replacement is announced.
