been in the DS trainer for a few years as my primary shoe. just one run in the lunar elite, but i like the DS much better. lunar feels stiff, not as responsive, or something. again just one run. . . but i don't think i was thrilled with the lunar racer they first few times i did workouts in it either. now it's my favorite flat in 15 years(=ever). gotta give it a few more runs. . . .
I agree about the Lunar Elite being firm and not very responsive. I like the flexibility of the DS Trainer much better. I also found the toe box to be a bit too narrow/tapered.
I've only put in one run with the Lunarelite but I think they are a little more stiff and firm than the Zoom Elite. I still think they are a good training shoe. The durability may be a question mark so we'll have to see how many miles I can get out of them.
I also just completed one run, and I agree that they are a little stiffer than shoes of the past, likely due to the lack of posting.
I'm not sure what "response" you want from a shoe, but for me, a shoe that is comfortable and that provides adequate cushioning is enough for me. I found the Elite provided a good ride for my feet, and toward the end of the run my feet felt good.
If they improved the flexibility, they'd be a great shoe. Still, it's a good shoe. Now, how far can they go? That will be the test.
