I agree the event was great, and in person I'm sure it was a blast, but the television coverage is still presented poorly. However, I did find the commentary to be less ridiculously annoying than in past years.

No, it was just Kiprop's first time ever racing on an indoor track. Lagat's the best ever on the Millrose track and this was Kiprop's introduction to indoor track.

Agreed. The coverage wasn't perfect, but any track coverage is better than nothing. What can we complain about? I thought the meet was very entertaining.

That mile field was WEAK. I mean Kiprop is a good runner, but he prolly knows little about indoor track and in January. How many kenyans are really fit now. But lets be honest he probably didn't feel that bad having kenyan legend Lagat take the title of most millrose wins. Lagat was oozing with confidence in his pre-race interview debating about what he would be called following the race it was actually quite funny.

Just got back from the Garden. I had a girls team represented in one of the 4x400's. Their first experience at Millrose and they were not let down at all. Great meet all around. Would have been nice to see more seats filled (maybe 1/2 to 2/3 full?). Some of the high school races are the best. Great competition, tough athletes, close finishes. Nothing like a night at Millrose.

If you're a track and field fan and live anywhere near NYC you need to take advantage of the event.

Kiprop is a good runner?!? He's the f***ing current 1500m Oly Gold Medalist.

How the current Oly champ can be in a field & you still refer to it as weak is retarded.

Weak? You call 3 sub 3:50 milers in one race weak?

Yes. I think Lagat is far superior to them in a race like this. I would have liked to see a fit Willis challenge him once again. Hes a guy who has been around the block. Remember sometimes Kenyans completely disappear following a gold medal. Noah Ngeny ring a bell you uninformed finks!!!! Lagat made this field look ridiculous.

The coverage wasn't terrible, but the gabbing/competition ratio leaned far too much toward the gabbing part. Several great races, and Cantwell was pretty amazing, too.

What do y'all think about the false start rule? I'm with Dwight on this one, I like it.

Definitely an entertaining meet, the Super 60m was pretty funny. I thought for sure some football studs who ran 4.3 40's would be able to break 7 in the 60 damn it's amazing how football speed is different than track speed. Obviously those aren't the fastest guys in football though.

Wanted to say that a few friends of mine and I had a Millrose "get together" viewing party thing. Whatever you wanna call it. But we were yelling at the tv for almost every race. It was amazing to see how close almost every race was. Men's 60, Women's 60 (.007 sec??!), Super 60, Women's mile, etc. Really got us all pumped to race again.

And a note about the commentary, I realized about at the end that nothing the whole time bothered me, it was amazing. I was able to watch it in peace for the first time ever.

Lastly, the presentation of the Wanamaker field is EXACTLY how it needs to be done. One by one, lights dimmed. Well done, really wish I could have been there.

Why waste money for old NFL has beens when they could pay appearance fees to current elites and sub-elites who need the money. You know they had to fly those old drips 1st Class and house them at the Marriott. They could have gotten elites and sub-elites who need the money and the exposure. Why waste time with softpedaling local HS and local college filler races. Those filler race kids ran like patsies just trying to make the spring travel team 2 months from now. Back in the day at Cow Palace & Sports Arena, west coast kids would shove you off the track like a basketball game then blame your mother. We ran for payback & blood not for gear bags and shoes.

I'm not even quite sure what point your retarded meanderings are trying to make, but the HS athletes and events are quite good.

In my opinion doing things like the football player 60 is more of what track needs to get coverage to where more people want to watch. All in all I thought the meet was good. I was amazed at how easily Lagat handled a good mile field.

I know what you mean. Those east high school and colleges have no heart. They just go through the motions with ease and comfort like on TV last night.

I completely agree. This was the first Millrose I watched (thanks espn360!) and I was impressed. The lighting and introductions before the mile were killer and you could feel the excitement at the Garden. When Lagat made the pass with a lap to go, people were screaming and jumping, and even fat people were standing up. Totally awesome.

1. The no false start rule is good.

2. Having a T&F meet on TV is great. However, the announcers act as if every race, every throw, and every jump are the GREATEST AND MOST IMPORTANT THINGS THAT EVER HAPPENED IN THE HISTORY OF THE EARTH!!!!! The 'professional wrestling' atmosphere and screaming voices by the announcers have no place in a T&F meet. If they would simply announce the meet, and give some pertinent facts about the athletes, the program would have been better. I doubt there are many folks, other than true T&F fans, who enjoy a production like that.
