Alan Webb used to have flat feet???

Well I always wondered why he has the least smooth form of any 3:46 miler I've seen.

McDougall is a minimalist junkie. Once the ligaments in your feet are lax enough (or if they never were not lax), no amount of barefoot exercises/barefoot running are going to suddenly cause your foot to have an arch again. Seriously. You don't just go from being flat footed to having an arch.

I've developed an arch, but my forefoot has gotten wider (toes more spread apart) from years of high mileage and supplemental barefoot running. So my shoe size has gone up a full size the past 10 years, not down in size.

My arch definitely got higher by going minimalist. Haven't noticed any real change in shoe size, though.

Since I started wearing 5Fingers around as my shoes I've grown an inch and my shoe size has gone down 1/2 of a size. I attribute the height change to better posture.

I don't know if your are correct or not but I do know that my daughter has a very high arch and when she started teaching aerobics her foot size went down 1/2 size. She was in great running shape before that. So who knows where the shrinkage comes from except maybe George from Sienfeld.

Since I became a minimalist my arches have become so big that I have added 3 inches to my height. Also my hair is thicker and my rash has gone away.

Since starting minimalist training my career has taken off, I have gotten a $40,000 raise and I now drive a Hummer. Also, my wife has begun sleeping around and I can dunk a basketball.

I was 5' 7 when I first started wearing size 12 shoes, it's really not that odd.

Should have left his feet alone. He had such a short career maybe we now know why.

Just look at the feet of Usain Bolt, not that much of a arch.

I was 5'8-10" in 8th-9th grade and had a size 12-12.5. I now am 6'1" and 10-10.5 depending on the brand. Can't honestly say it was ever an intended result, but I have definitely spent a lot more time around the house and running barefoot in previous years..maybe that is to blame? So Webb's claim seems pretty feasible to me.

I just asked him and he wears size 10 shoes. He has never worn a size 12.
