I had the opportunity today to watch the Kenya Police x-country.I have to say it was a thriller.All the legends i.e Wanjiru,Kitwara,Masai,Cheruiyot e in it.However Sammy Wanjiru was thoroughly beaten.wanjiru was 39th or 40thi think.I was amazed by the talent in kenya.Other giants who fell are Kitwara,Ngatuny,Kiprop,Paul Koech and so many other house hold names in athletics.
You do realize that Wanjiru is primarily a marathoner, right?
The guy who won the x-country race is also a marathoner.His nam is Kirui.
That happens all the time in Kenya. Elite WR holders get beaten in xc races there a lot.

he is not fit the iaaf.org article on this race said wanjiru had gained some kilos ( a kilo is 2.2 pounds) as he did not run at all in november and december.
When is the last time Sammy won any race other than a marathon? I think Hall is taking a page from his book in excuse making. Always credit the guy who beats you. Don't pull out the excuses.

That has nothing to do with what anyone is talking about. 39th and 40th in this race is bad no matter how you put it especially since he's run his best times at the half.
He has never broken 2:05...i obviously believe he was capable of it. But what suggests he'll be running 2:04 in 3 months?
Hey guys, I personally know a former Kenyan World Champion, they run the race simply for the people. They run so they can promote and get the excitement of a big celebrity. Sometimes they do go out hard, but 99% of the time they usually just keep it at 75-80% effort. Honestly thats all it was. I hope this eases the nerves for the Wanjiru fans. He will be fit when it comes race time - just you wait and see.
If you do question my comments, since most people would, look for previous championship results through kenyan newspapers, the greats are always back in the pack.

Combine that with the fact that AK has a ridiculous habit of tossing their best contenders off of national teams for not running arbitrary XC races at home...
i'm from kenya and i want to let you know that 3/4 if not all big names in kenya cann't compete back home because of some reasons like that there are some oung kenyans who they have not yet get an opportunity to compite internationally and they are good.
its almost all if not all of the big name in kenya can not compete because they will be beaten by the young and upcoming kenyan. i say this coz its my country and i know how its.
