Does anyone think German Fernandez will repeat as NCAA 1500 meter Champion?

If Centro can get healthy and improve on what he did last year than no. Same deal with Wheating. Ulrey is done with track right?

Ulrey(if he can run)>Fernandez>Centro

Wheating would have lost to Jacob last year OUTDOOR (again) had he not been injured.

Ulrey has one year left for track. He's coming off a monster XC season (in fact, his first) which included a regional win and a 6th place showing at Terre Haute. I expect a monster season. 3:33 1500 anybody?

My bad. He's redshirting outdoor this year. But, he said that he will be "hitting the indoor season hard" in an interview after NCAA XC.

I would expect a healthy Centro or Ulrey to beat him at 1500.

And I would expect a healthy Fernandez to repeat and beat a healthy NCAA field no matter who lines up....

I expect the guy who didn't make the final and the guy who finished third to beat the guy who won it all as a freshman.

There is no way that German will win another 1500 meter championship. Both Ulrey and Centrowitz are exposed every day to excellent coaching. So, each day Ulrey and Centrowitz separate themselves from German who unfortuately has placed his very talented body into a position where he gets substandard training, nutrition, and environment.

yet neither one (with supposed coaching, training and environment advantages) has an individual NCAA title and Fernandez has both an individual title and a team title to his resume??!!?? like I said in previous posts I hope that Smith and the OSU environment can keep F&%king things up soooo miserably.....

Far from true. Ulrey is a fabulous runner, who has demonstrated consistency while Fernandez won one race, with an injured Centro in the field. Had Centro been healthy, he would have easily out kicked German (who would probably have fallen down as Centro went by him). If you think that German is tougher than Ulrey, you haven't got a clue. So, Centro has the Indoor team championship and he has the XC team championship. Fernandez has one title and (the luck) to be on a team (to which he did not contribute) to go along with all his injuries and "no shows". Sorry, but he is toast from here on out. In the old school we call it "damaged goods". If he were to run head to head against Ulrey, Cento or Wheating, he would have his ass kicked. My suspicion is that he will spend the remainder of his collegiate career ducking the competition.

You will see. I really believe that it was a travesty that a young kid with such great potential as German did not get into an Arkansas, Oregon, Stanford, or Virginia type program. In my opinion, his short term gain (full scholarship), will sacrifice potential hundreds of thousands that he could have earned from running with the proper development training.

consistency?? Fernandez has yet to lose at 1500 or the mile....and has the Jr. world record indoors for the mile and the outdoor 1500 title... hmmmm terribly inconsistant....

Example, I WAS a good runner until I started getting repeat injury after another. Mostly in the lower legs, muscles, tendons attached to muscle, you name it.

I soon cut back on these things by nearly 75% and my running has never been better. I feel stronger. I most certainly never had the talent as GF, but if I knew then what I know now, I could have been so much better.

I highly doubt Germans injuries are due to food allergies.

Centro, with his three years of college experience and zero outdoor track finals appearances, is in a different class than German Fernandez.

my apologies to Centro for the oversight and forgetting his indoor title... refresh my memory tho on the Cross team title, did he run or score for that team? not tryin to be a smart a$$, just askin...
