different track, same fieldhouse.
-
they also completely annihilated Purdue in a dual meet last week also.
-
They peak early. No worries, they'll be in the shitter by Big 10s.
-
That's some good athlete development, too. While these guys were very solid in HS, there are a lot of 4:12/9:02 (Bayer) and 4:14/9:06 (Poore) guys who never make it to this level (and those were 1600m and 3200m times, not full mile/2-miles).

very true words... this is like deja vu of their cross country season -
Every race was completey setup as time trials on one of the fastest tracks ever run on. Wait until they actually have to race!
-
Will this be a bigger season of burn-out than XC? They are Big Tem ranked currently 1-8 in the mile (all under 4:10) and 1-4 in 3000 (2 under 8) and #1 in 800 as well.

remember when xavier had athletes in all the invitational sections and they sucked in all of them? their HC must be a great liar...

Flotrack wasn't able to make it to this meet. However, we set up a coverage page and Kyle Johnson of IU was able to get some footage. Right now the Invite 3000 on the Mens side isn't up, I hope it will be soon. Check back there regularly and maybe it will pop up at some point.

7:55 and 7:57 are great college times no matter when during the season they are run. However, there isnt another team in the nation that has ran 3 meets by January 23rd. You have to wonder when they actually do workouts if they are racing every weekend in January and February. My guess is that they are cranking speed and anaerobic work already and this is about all we will see out of them this year. Like I said though, 7:55 and 7:57 are good at anytime of the year, especially for two local walk on athletes.

That's a big run by Overall. After having a breaktrhough season in 2008 he looked ready to move up into the back end of our top tier runners, but then struggled last year. Hopefully he'll be able to take it to another level this year.
Horn had a ridic huge breakthrough season last year...he seems ready to continue that. Will be interesting to see how these two end up. -
Exactly. This is January, right? Typical IU right about now.

I don't know about IU or their schedule, but I was a timer/track Official for the Indoor college meets in Michigan for several years and EMU had a meet on the schedule EVERY weekend from January 7th-9th until NCAA Championships.
It doesn't mean that every athlete (especially every distance runner) ran every meet. There are generally 10 meets on the schedule and I would say the 800/1500/3k types ran 6 of 10. The 5k/10k types ran the fast invites (like Meyo and 1-2 others) and focused on Conference and NCAAs.
I don't see why you can't do this schedule if you are racing every Saturday, especially if you are a 1500/3k/Steeple type:
S: long run - easy
M: intervals
T: easy
W: intervals
Th: easy
F: short easy
S: Meet mile-3k-5k
This is how it has been for years in the midwest.

I figured Hubers would be under 4:00 by now. Or at least knocking on the door.

Doesnt matter how well Indiana runs or performs in sports they are always loosiers to me. POTFH!
