Just wondering.
Just wondering.
A mile in lane 2 is a mile.
It will be a bit short of 4 laps, but it is still a mile.
Très bon!
Mais est-ce que c'est un full mile?
to answer a question you didn't specifically ask, 4 full laps in lane 2 on a 400m track is about 1630m
To get an exact mile out of 4 full laps on a standard 400 meter track you must a couple of inches on the inside on the line seperating lane one and two.
I guess an inexact way would be to pretend you're starting the 400 dash in lane two. Go to your starting mark in lane two. Then measure the distance from your starting line backwards to the finish line in lane two. Multiply this distance by 4. Then start at the finish line in lane two, and keep walking until you get to the prescribed distance (the number you multiplied by 4).
That is a very correct answer. Why? Because not all tracks are the same - the arc of the turns determine the stagger for the 400, etc...which in turn would determine the extra distance needed to complete a mile in lane 2. Not all tracks have the same arc in the turn...especially since we're probably talking about your local high school facilities.
C'est un sprint pas une 'dash'!
Take off 4 or 5 seconds for full mile conversion

....and then walk back 9 metres. A mile is 1609 metres, not 1600. To the nearest metre anyway.
6.8m extra per lap per lane out from 1.

This.
I thought it was 7 meters exactly actually.
A mile in lane two is a mile, just like a mile in any other lane or in any other place.

This is the most post ever!
