Life at these speeds is not a good running book. It seemed to end up being more about politics than really about experiences running.
Pain I felt was a good book, just because it is like the author ran for my college and wrote a book about my coach. For that reason I really enjoyed it and found it easy to relate to the story except the suicide stuff.
I didn't like Pain. Everything seemed so contrived, as if the author came up with this elaborate story just to throw in the crazy finale. The book was too depressing for me, and less running-related than a case study on people with extreme personality problems.
I just feel like neither of those guys are very good writers. As in, if I weren't a runner those books would have been pretty unreadable.
