Nike Zoom Matumbo Metal Spikes for Indoor 5,000m?

I'm an older, mostly a road guy, but still run decent respectable 5k road races in the 16s. I got a pair of the Zoom Matumbo's for Track races.

So the question is - do you think the metal spikes that come with the Zoom Matumbo are good to put in for an Indoor 5K? im like a mid-foot striker with pretty screwed up feet over the years (plantar fascia problems in both feet) and for the roads I prefer a Nike XC Streak 2 waffle like-shoe or flexible road flat. I just ask because for my running style there might be too much traction/friction such that it might be strange friction-like feeling in forefoot/toe-off phase.

THanks in advance, please let me know your experiences.

use the spikes. traction is what they're all about and it doesn't matter that they're uncomfortable they will take time off of your 5k.

It is a trade off -- 10 seconds off your time for calves that won't work for you for a week afterwards. Worth it when you are young and quick, not so much when you are old and in the way.

The Matumbo doesn't have much tracting other than the spikes, and indoor tracks are notoriously slick. The spike placement is designed to stradel the bones in your feet. I would try them out with some strides before the race, you can pull out 8 spikes pretty quickly.
