I am contemplating wearing the Streak XC 2s for my trail runs. I have the original Streak XCs, and like them a lot for running mostly flat stuff. I cut the upper in the forefoot after about 50 miles to open them up more because I didn't like how narrow they were.
When I first saw the new version, I thought they could make a perfect minimalist trail shoe because they have full rubber on the forefoot to provide a bit of rock protection, the forefoot seemed possibly a bit harder than the original for more protection, and the upper should drain water perfectly, while being lighter than most any other shoe.
I tried the shoes on at a store. I normally wear size 8.5-9, depending on the shoe. Size 9 felt a bit narrow in the forefoot, and REALLY long to the point of feeling clunky. The 8.5 still felt long, and felt even more narrow. The upper seems to flex a lot since it doesn't have any overlays, so maybe the width wouldn't be a problem.
Has anyone with wider feet worn the XC2s, and how did they work? I'd like to wear the shoe as-is rather than cutting them like I do to the original, since I'll be running on trails.
