Could Adams have beaten Oklahoma at D1 Nat's

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the D2 winner used to get invited to the D1 championships? If this is the case it would be nice to bring that back.

Yes, and it would be cool (but very doubtful) if it was brought back.

I think thats nearly impossible to say. At DII nats Adams had large gaps between their runner that averaged 17sec. (40+ from 1-2 and 30+ for 2-5). I think those kind of gaps would kill them in DI. But then again OSU averaged a little over 18sec.

Lets just say that the Adams guys ran quicker with more people around them (especailly the front guys who looked to be just trying to win and not running all out (I.E. Chelanga or Derrick)).

In a best case race I think Adams would be up there with colorado in 5th, 6th or 7th.

As much as i would like to see Adams kill off a bunch of top DI schools I think 5th or so would top them out.

Why do you care whether Adams State could beat the 12th best team in DI? That's kind of a random team to chose. And what does German have to do with this?

NAU and W&M debunked the DII myth that Adams could win DI at the Jamboree. Yes, Adams is good. Yes, they could finish top 10. but winning it all? that's a joke.

If Adams State wants to run DI Nationals then they should leave the RMAC and join the WAC or Big 12 and run Division 1 NCAA. Every year they ask this question and the response is the same from DI....we don't care about you until you become a Division I team. There is so much more depth in DI that anything can happen. Scores are higher and everyone has good runners. Adams State is very good, but they wouldn't win.

Its a fun question to debate.

Another question though is would Adams state even be able to make it out of the Mountain Regionals?

I have heard of instances of select teams competing in DI, while the school as a whole remained DII, but I don't think it's very common. The only example I know of is in collegiate hockey. UND competed in DI when the rest of the sports were still competing in DII competitions. Maybe it's just an exception for hockey. Then again, maybe ASC could pull it off.

LOl i don't think they would even make it out of the mountain region, colorado nau new mexico and byu would've smashed them, maybe if they had enough rpi points could they have made it out but they would've been 5th at the mt region, theres no contesting that

Wow, here is someone who obviously doesn't know what they are talking about. You do realize that Adams has a 13:59 guy and a 3:45 guy who couldn't make the team. Are you telling me that those other schools have that?

Come on be serious? Adams not make it out of the Mountain region? They could beat a team like New Mexico with their arms tied behind their backs.

They would have beatn OK State yesterday. OK State did not run that well, the rest of the teams just ran teribly. OK States 5th man was 93rd, there is no way that the way Adams 5th man ran on Saturday (11th ahead of Iain Donnan, Marko Cheesato etc) would have been 93rd in D1!!

You D1 snobs may not like it but that is the way it is.

At the Jamboree William and Mary and NAU did beat Adams BUT I am asking the question for the day of nats.

Adams average team gap was smaller like the earlier dude said 17+ over 18+.

If this is true and Rueben were to beat Oklahomas #1 or was close to him, I am just sayin it could have been close.

Your evidence for Adams State beating Ok State is the jamboree, the first meet of the year for both teams and a race that neither Ryan Vail nor German Fernandez ran.

And then you say that W&M and NAU beating Adams State at the jamboree doesn't matter.

Adams State is a great team, but comparisons such as this are silly. Why don't you just leave it be?

Oklahoma State won the national championship to Oklahoma. German Fernandez runs for OKLAHOMA STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!
