I remember seeing a whale which exploded due to gas build up while being towed on a tractor trailer in some city in Korea? Hunting whales must be legal there.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal anywhere in the US. Look for 3rd world countries where they don't have laws for the better of the world.

And as far as convincing the locals to take you... money speaks. You show enough dough and they'll let you get one.

And what kind of a whale are you talking about? There are a lot of different species and I'm pretty sure you'll have a better chance of being allowed to kill a smaller whale then say a great white.

I'd like to hunt Narwhal most of all, but any whale would be OK. I know Japan and Norway still whale commercially, but I'd like to take part in a traditional hunt (as I see the justification for such a thing, unlike widescale commercial whaling).

Just go to the mall parking lot in any U.S. town. Plenty of whales there.

Get a driver and a bag of Titleists and go out to the beach.

Hit the whole bag.

You should be able to lodge on in the beasts blowhole.

As long as there aren't any marine biologists walking down the beach, you'll realize your dream.

Thanks. I just re-read Sebastian Junger's story on the traditional whalers in Bequia, it has me fired up. The ultimate for me would be a traditional hunt for Narwhal in a kayak in Greenland, but this may be a bit unrealistic. I'll do some research on the coastal tribes in Washington and Alaska.
