yes, definitely. there are standards and people are supposed to uphold them. this person knew this, and chose to violate their responsibilities.
plus, it's kind of pathetic to cheat in grad school--either you're a serious student and you don't do it because just doing well on tests isn't why you're there, or you don't belong in grad school.
dude get over yourself
Most schools have an Honor Code. Some schools take it very seriously though it's often the smaller, better colleges. All schools should value it and yes, you should report it if you saw someone cheating. Cheaters suck, whether it's on a test or EPO.
thanks....I don't have 100% proof but I saw her do 3 suspicious things. Before the test, she wrote something in pencil on the desk. Then she pulls out an ipod instead of a standard calculator and immediately starts writing stuff down while looking at the ipod without pushing any buttons. Then she took an extended bathroom break...like 7 minutes. I can't prove it but I would bet guilty.
I turned in someone recently but only because they were cheating off me and I knew the prof was onto them. I figured I would strike first, no way am I going to get f*cked because the prof thinks I was in on it.
In your case I probably wouldnt say anything. She will either get caught or fail on her own without your intervention. Can't say it wouldn't be fun to watch someone get kicked out of school for that though, its annoying for the people who actually do the work.
They're not only giving out one degree. Just saying..
you've got to be kidding me. Telling on someone for cheating? how old are you 7? It's not a competition for one degree shes only hurting herself for cheating and if she does get away with it then good for her. She took a risk by cheating and she may very well have found a better way to get a good grade than you did. It's called beating the system and its what life's all about
Grad school courses are usually graded on a curve, which means if someone beats you by cheating they are potentially lowering your grade. I'd turn her in.
If it affects you due to the curve, then yes. Otherwise shut your mouth you freaking tattle tale.
Yea that's pretty lame to report someone for cheating, especially when you don't know. If I were that girl I'd come right back and say that I saw you cheating, and that you were trying to discredit me.
You are probably a cheater yourself, dude. Stop it, seriously, cheating on tests in grad school just makes you worse at your profession and can get you kicked out of high school.
Don't be a snitch. Really. They are cheating themselves. Especially in grad school because they will fail the next class that depends on the material they stupidly paid tuition for and didn't learn. At least that's an absolute guarantee if studying engineering, physics, or math.
I used to proctor exams. You don't have to accuse them of cheating, just indicate to keep an eye out. Then you just sound a little paranoid instead of a cutthroat bitch
Definitely tell the professor what you saw. The professor probably won't be able to do anything about that specific exam, but they will keep a careful watch over them moving forward.

What if you were in med school? Is it still lame to report people then?
Why report him? Blackmail him instead. Alot more fun and beneficial to your bank account.
i would not report anyone unless i clearly saw cheating and could prove it. Even then...actually I probably wouldn't. I might confront the student, though.
NOOOOO. Do NOT turn them in.
They will most likely be kicked out of school. This could really ruin their life. Suppose they have a useless undergraduate major (such as English), and can now never go to grad school again. This means they will have wasted potentially 100's of 1000's of dollars, and all they will have to show for it is a crappy undergrad degree. Suppose they had to pay for all of their college and will have to pay 100's of 1000's of dollars of loans, and now have limited means to do so.
Of course that's just one example (but is somewhat common and that could easily be the case). I'm not condoning cheating. If that person is slacking on the
ir grad school work, it will probably come back to bite them. Don't do something that could potentially ruin someone's life. Work hard, get your grades, get your job. That person will eventually fall by the wayside.
Most of these responders are spot on. Seriously, people cheat. Get used to it. This won't be the last time somebody cuts corners to get ahead of you.
You have three possible courses of action to stay competitive in your school and your profession:
1) You could cheat as well (the pro cycling model, in which case the whole field becomes irrelevant);
2) You could report the cheater and hope to cut down the competition to your level, like a sniveling little bitch; or
3) You could outperform those who cut corners while doing things the right way.
Guess which course of action real winners choose? Your ball, buddy.
