This is Jenny B.'s last race of her NCAA career. She has brought a lot of excitement to women's cross and track with her storming of the steeple her frosh year to her amazing 1500 at Pre and her Olympic debut in China.
Is there another female in the wings waiting to take her place? Even though they arn't DI I think Spence and Pixler have a lot of potential. What say you?
It will be a long long time before NCAA sees another Jenny B. Bridget Franek is a up and coming star IMO.

Hasay has continued to make progress even though she grew a bunch, which often slows the person down for a bit while they adjust to the new circumstance (as happened to Tegenkamp]. Neely Spence looks like she is carrying a lot of extra weight; not sure why but she is in a non-pressure maturing situation and can lean up later.
Lisa Koll is a bit of an enigma; if she returns to form of a couple of years ago and builds on that, she could emerge as a top runner, even if not quite on the Jenny B level.

Sorry, I just had to. Of all the current crop of college women, she has to be looked at as having the most potential to do what Barringer has done. Maybe not in the steeple, but across several distances and with such dominance.

I'll bet you did! Yes, have heard of Jordan and she so far has done well but is she the next Jenny B? I don't know about Jordan for long term we shall see. And I agree that Neely Spence looks bulkier. But it hasn't seemed to slow her down. If she leans out (like Jenny B did) she could be. If you look at Jenny B.s photos her frosh year she was carrying a lot more weight than any other year.

She's still young, underrated, and playing the team role. Most impressive is that she seems to never get injured. I think she'll break out her senior year, and then you'll see the fire. Her steeple strength will translate to speed, just as it did for JB.
My vote is on Spence. I think she's got a bigger upside than Pixler. Spence has more range of racing. Jessica Pixler is a beast of a racer but she has one gear and a limiting stride. Spence has more gears, a smooth stride and more to build from in my opinion. I'm a big fan of the Penn State runner as well, but if you've followed results this fall you'd know that Neeley beat her at their home invite. Spence is going to be a very good runner down the road... Sub 15 material!
WIth all of that said, i think it's a toss-up for the title this Saturday in Evansville. The race for the women's title is going to be more exciting to watch than the men's. Stay tuned!

The only current collegiate runner who has shown even the slightest glimpse of the potential required to run sub 4:00 while still in college is Hassay.
In my opinion, no one currently in college is going to even come close to touching Jenny B's times. 5th in the world championships with a 9:12 steeple? sub 4:00 1500m?

She left Stanford and went to another California school (not sure which one) and I don't know if she wasn't released from Stanford or she's injured or what.
MEL for the American record in the steeple!
She is transferring to UC Berkeley, another top institution in California.
She might still be injured/have a stress reaction... but she needs to still wait until next year to run for Berkeley because of transferring etc.
Pity... if Chetelat had been there, Stanford would have had a very solid team. A good front runner and the depth to back it up in Alex Gits, Stephanie Marcy, Alex Dunne, Kathy Kroeger, etc.
