I am mainly a more conservative 5am to 5:30 start time. However, at some point in my life, I have run at every hour of the day or night. Where I live I used to have to worry about gays hitting on me (following me) but now it's more often than not coyotes and skunks. Occassionally the cops pass me once or twice, but, they see me enough now that they just drive by. I always recommend running against traffic during the night/early morning. If nothing else, you can see what's coming at you. Also, stay alert. Even if you are paying attention, it doesn't mean everyone is. Also, wear bright colors and let someone know where you're going (route, start time, finish time, etc, even if it's just a note on your counter top). Who knows, you slip, fall down a hill and get hurt, that little piece of info might help you out.
