Will heating or chilling food kill nasty things that could give you a cold or flu? We are taught that we are not supposed to eat other people's food, particularly people who are sick. Is that true or is that an old wive's tale? What is the food is reheated or rechilled? Will that kill the virus or bacteria or microbes or whatever that makes you sick? I have children who sometimes don't finish their food. Usually I just eat it, but with all the concern about flu, etc., I've been wary of doing that lately. Can I just heat up the food and feel safe eating their leftovers?
